Known as a legend within the financial community, Raeshaun is a University of Toronto graduate and Chartered Professional Accountant who left a Big Four accounting firm to pursue his passion for music. The young artist went viral in 2018 after emailing the over 7,000 people employed at his accounting firm to let them know he was resigning to pursue his dream of becoming an artist and producer.
Since then, Raeshaun’s unique blend of trap, pop, and Caribbean/nu house has earned the Toronto native a steadily growing fanbase spanning over 78 countries, with over 250K streams and views across platforms. Continuing his winning streak, his anthemic melodies have also been featured on Toronto’s Flow 93.5 radio station and YouTube Music’s R&B Revival showcase. YouTube Music also named Raeshaun ‘one of 65 Canadian artists introducing new
sounds and taking the world to new levels.’
Raeshaun’s invigorating sonic quality is matched only by his charismatic, high-energy live performances. The Toronto artist won fans over when he performed alongside Toronto’s Yung Tory (Def Jam) and LB Spiffy (Warner Music) before being flown out to showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas in 2019. Raeshaun is also currently among 40 artists selected out of thousands of
applicants to be part of RBCxMusic’s “First Up” showcase from Canada’s biggest bank showcasing Canadian talent. He will be participating in a socially distant IGTV live performance as part of the showcase on July 12, 2020.
The talented artist has also collaborated on several genre-bending hip-hop dance records with MMVA winner Danny Fernandes, JUNO winner JRDN and MTV Award winner/Juno nominee Karl Wolf.
But beyond Raeshaun’s rapidly growing accolades, his greatest strength remains his unflinching dedication to innovating his craft. A child of Guyanese parents, Raeshaun is always on the lookout for new ways to sonically incorporate his heritage into his work. Raeshaun’s latest record Dubai featuring Karl Wolf is no exception. Set to release on July 17, 2020, Dubai is inspired by Raeshaun’s Guyanese roots and Karl Wolf’s Lebanese ancestry. The track marries a vibrant, international melody with luxurious images of summer love in Dubai. Raeshaun explains: “When Karl heard the track, I think he knew it would be something special to heat the
summer up — you know, as he says in the song: ‘We fly out in July.”
