Shanii22 Is Back With ‘KEFI’
Shanii22 releases new EP “KEFI’’, which translates in Arabic to “I do what I want”, An Arabic response to anyone trying to question the path we choose to take. This EP embodies an energy that proves Middle Eastern culture to be a lot more vibrant than what is displayed in the media.
Shanii22 is a Syrian/Lebanese artist who is now based in Canada and blends his Culture deeply into his music by infusing Arabic and English lyrics with upbeat, grimey, 2000’s style Hip-Hop instrumentals.
Shanii has no features on this EP, but worked with a diverse group of producers from around the world to create and finetune a unique sound. The first single of the EP titled ‘619’ was produced by a 15 year old phenomenon from Prague, Czech Republic. Another prominent track on the EP “KAWAMII” was produced by Musiqah, a Lebanese producer living in Toronto, who was already tapping into a sound influenced in part by Arabic culture.
Even through a world pandemic he still managed to elevate his music career with performances at the Hopscotch Halifax festival and afterparty event with Jazz Cartier. His song “We out here” aired on Virgin Radio, he had an interview with The Morning show on Global News and Live performances at Canada Music Week and RBC x Music. It doesn’t stop there; he was able to surpass over 350,000 streams in only 1 year, completely independently.
